WASHINGTON— The United States, Canada, and South america have agreed to keep their own shared borders shut to non-essential traffic till at least late August due to COVID-19 .

Performing U. S. Department associated with Homeland Security Chad Wolf said Thursday within announcing the extension that limitations on cross-border traffic which have been in place since March have got helped slow the distribute of the coronavirus.

Officials had said within recent days that one more 30-day extension was probably before the expiration of the earlier 30-day extension.

The partial closure limits crossing to commercial visitors, people returning to their home nation, and other travel deemed important. It prohibits people through traveling between the countries regarding tourism or shopping, that is economically important to border neighborhoods.

The extension decided to by the three countries would certainly keep the border closed till Aug. 21.

It comes as COVID-19 is constantly on the surge in many parts of the usa and in Mexico.

The border restrictions are meant to maintain the commercial products traffic that is vital towards the economies of all three nations.
