California ’ s public wellness director resigned Aug. nine as state officials find it difficult to deal with a computer system failing that led to inaccurate COVID-19 case numbers.

Dr . Sonia Angell announced her departure within a note to co-workers. She didn’ t provide a reason for her resignation yet mentioned the pandemic.

“ Since The month of january, when we got word associated with repatriation flights arriving through Wuhan, China, our Section has been front and middle in what has become an all-of-government response of unprecedented amounts to COVID-19. Not one in our staff has gone untouched by changes that have occurred. Not really in our professional lives or even our personal lives, ” she wrote.

Angell, who directed their state Department of Health, acknowledged health workers for upgrading and getting work done.

California health authorities discovered a system failure a week ago that led to  incorrect COVID-19 case numbers plus case positivity rates.

COVID-19 is an illness caused by  the  CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus .

The system failure “ furthermore prevented counties from getting some of the data they need to keep track of and respond to the virus within their communities, ”   Doctor Mark Ghaly, California’ t health secretary, told reporters in a virtual press meeting on Aug. 7.

Officials held responsible temporary changes put in place following a server outage on This summer 25.

A different problem, in which the state did not receive data from one from the largest commercial labs, stemmed from the state not reviving the lab’ s certification.

Ghaly, within announcing an investigation, told reporters that officials are aware that individuals at the state Health and Individual Services and Department associated with Public Health “ had been knowledgeable of some of these problems. ”

The present system isn’ t constructed for the large volume it’ s processing during the outbreak, and officials have more rapid the development of a new system.

Angell, a former mouthpiece commissioner at New York City’ s Department of Health insurance and Mental Hygiene, was hired by Gov. Gavin Newsom last year to head  California’ s Department of Wellness.

“ I wish to thank Dr . Angell on her service to the state plus her work to help drive our public health program during this global pandemic, whilst never losing sight from the importance of health equity, ” Newsom said in a declaration on Aug. 9.
