So, earlier this week Pepsi released a new commercial featuring Kendall Jenner from the Kardashian clan. The ad was created to inspire and unite people however sadly, things got really ugly very quickly. Shortly after the ad’s release, Twitter flooded with tweets about the ad and due to the controversy, Pepsi eventually had to pull it off air. So, what’s the big deal about this ad?

The ad begins with a street full of protesters (hard to tell what they are protesting for) while Kendall Jenner is seen posing for a photoshoot. Meanwhile, a Muslim photographer and a musician join the protest which inspires Jenner to join aswell. The ad ends with Jenner walking up to the officers and handing one of them a can of Pepsi. And just like that, all is well in the world.

Shortly after the ad’s release, people started raging on Twitter. Pepsi was brutally ridiculed for using an iconic protest scene just to sell soda. At first they defended the commercial only to pull it off air the next day. In case you missed it, here are the most snarky Tweets about the controversial commercial.
