16-year-old Natalie Hampton did not have any true friends at school and sadly during most of her lunch breaks she was left alone. It was the worst feeling in the world to have to eat alone when their were hundreds of students around. Natalie didn’t want any other kid to feel how she felt everyday which is why she created ‘Sit With Us’ app.
The app was created to help kids easily find lunch buddies and make friends. Natalie was constantly rejected and bullied for trying to find lunch partners in school and Sit With Us app is the complete opposite of that.
Kids who are signed up to the app can instantly find lunch buddies and even if they are rejected, it’s done privately and not in public. Like-minded kids can also create clubs and send invites for lunch parties and picnics.
“Because the way it was at my old school, I tried many times to reach out to someone, but I was rejected many times,” Natalie shard with NPR. “And you feel like you’re labeling yourself as an outcast when you ask to join a table with someone you don’t know.”
The app launched in September 2016 and has since received positive response from teens.
