Milo Ventimiglia is giving us all the feels on his hit show This Is Us, in which he plays Jack Pearson, a super awesome and loving father-of-three. But if you think that it’s JUST his character that has the power to make you sob like a baby, then you’re in for a huge surprise. At a recent Paleyfest panel, the 39-year-old actor held back tears as he revealed the inspiration behind playing his character on the emotional show.

When a fan asked where the inspiration to play such a loving man on the show came from, Ventimiglia said: “Here we go, you’re going to find me crying. My father.”

“There’s not a moment in my life where I don’t think about how he raised us, my sisters and I,” he continued as the camera turned to his parents Peter and Carol in the audience. “So, my dad.

At this point Ventimiglia was literally fighting back tears.

Dan Fogelman and all the producers and writers wrote this man who loves his wife and loves his kids, really as simple as that,” Ventimiglia said. “And I saw that in my own father.

Wow! Just when we thought we couldn’t fall more in love with Milo, he goes ahead and does that!
