Family photographer Soela Zani is always looking for something challenging, so when Down Syndrome Albania suggested her to photograph children with down syndrome, she agreed without hesitation and was honored to be a part of the project. The Albanian photographer teamed up with director Emanuela Zaimi and together they created portraits of children with down syndrome recreating famous paintings.
The stunning images send out a strong message about people who have down syndrome – that they are a work of art and they are just like everyone else. Check out her amazing work below.
“The message I want to share through this project is that every human is a piece of art, so we have to learn to see them in a beautiful way,” Zani shared with The Mighty. “These children are beautiful, and they are able to do everything if we give them the chance.”
